Winery Vignaluna: Home to Wine, Sustainability, and Sunset Serenades
If you’re anything like me, you probably had no idea there were wineries near Venice. Well, there are, and I think one might be the best in all of Italy.
As a traveler who’s been to 27 countries, visited over 10 wineries around the world, and is an avid lover of Italy—believe me when I say this winery is WORTH IT. If you’re seeking an authentic Italian experience, good wine, and to support a local business, there’s one place you absolutely must add to your itinerary: Winery Vignaluna.
Hidden along the picturesque banks of the Piave River in the Veneto region of Italy, this third-generation, family-owned winery is the perfect excursion. Here, you won’t only try some of the most delicious wine, you’ll have an unforgettable encounter with the Lunardelli family.

At Vignaluna, wine isn’t just a product, it’s a tradition, a story, and a heartfelt connection to Italy. The Lunardelli family has spent generations perfecting their craft, producing small-batch wines that celebrate the unique terrain of Veneto. Each bottle carries their dedication—both in the fields and in the cellar—delivering an unparalleled experience of authenticity that’s becoming harder and harder to find. As I tasted each wine, I was in awe of how much I loved each varietal (a rarity for me on wine tastings). The experience was made even better knowing I was tasting a wine that was made with passion and love (and seeing it happen right in front of me).
Going to Lunardelli Winery isn’t just about tasting great wine, it’s about the familial experience. I was utterly charmed by Giovanni, the owner of Vignaluna. As he took us around his property and explained the wine-making process, you could feel the passion and respect he has for his craft. We were welcomed with open arms and treated like family. From the personalized wine tasting by Giovanni, to being served a home-cooked meal by the chef, to ending our night being serenaded under the sunset, this was by far one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

Let me set the scene: You’re seated at a long table, indulging in the best cheese and pasta you’ve ever had (homemade by a Lunardelli, of course). A glass of delectable wine sits in your hand, and you’re shocked how amazing it tastes—because it’s a rosé and you HATE rosé, but somehow not THIS rosé. As the sun sets over the vineyard, an Italian Nono comes out (Giovanni Lunardelli’s father, Luigi, who else?), and starts serenading you. It’s a moment that makes you stop and say, “Oh my gosh, I’m really in Italy.”

Beyond the incredible experience at the winery, Vignaluna is made even more unique thanks to their environmental efforts. The winery focuses on sustainability by preserving the land using unobtrusive cultivation techniques. These techniques respect the natural cycle of the grapes, ensuring this incredible place will last generations longer. Vignaluna also omits herbicide or desiccant use from the growing of their grapes. Translation: You’re drinking wine that doesn’t just help the environment, but sets the standard for sustainability.
For anyone visiting Venice or seeking out the true hidden gems of Italy, the Lunardelli family winery offers something truly special: a chance to connect with Italian culture on a deeper level. Here, you’re not just a visitor, you’re part of a story. Whether you’re savoring a glass of their renowned wine (trust me, it’s amazing), enjoying a meal that tastes like home, or being serenaded under the Italian sky, your visit to Vignaluna will be a memory to cherish for a lifetime.
P.S. I ordered a case of wine back to the States (a real steal if I do say so myself), and it was delivered two days after I got back from my trip (10 days total!).
